SARMA Organization and Leadership SARMA was incorporated on May 23, 2006 in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a non-profit trade association under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Service tax code. Per our Articles of Incorporation, SARMA began with a seven-member Interim Board of Directors. These members were selected for their experience, vision for the profession and commitment to maturing the security analysis and risk management discipline. In May 2007, the Interim Board was replaced by an elected Board of Directors during SARMA's Annual Meeting. Subsequently, the Board voted unanimously to expand from seven to nine directors. Directors The Board of Directors provides leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the officers and staff of the Association. The current Board of Directors, expanded from nine to 11 at SARMA's 4th Annual Meeting on October 6th, 2010, are: Officers The officers are called upon for their operational expertise in advising the association on a range of financial and procedural issues, based on SARMA's Bylaws and the general direction provided by the Board. Professional Support In June 2009, SARMA took its first step in building professional support by creating the new contract position of Executive Director, responsible for managing the association's internal and external operations on a day-to-day basis, and acting as a liaison and communications channel between SARMA leadership and its committee chairs and volunteers, as well as between SARMA and other organizations and individuals. Current professional support members are: Executive Committee Composed of the Board Chairman, President and Executive Vice President, acting with the Treasurer, the ExCom is available between regular leadership meetings to make decisions and take action on behalf of the Board.
